A huge thank you to London Elementary School for allowing our class into your school! I know that this trip was very beneficial to us! I loved visiting Mrs. Kimbrough and Mrs. Donathan's classrooms. Mrs. Kimbrough demonstrated a guided reading lesson with a group of students. I liked getting to just sit back and observe how the teacher provoked the learning from the students. Mrs. Donathan's class was working on the writing process. The students were masters at this process already. It was great to see how they went back over their writings and corrected things. Overall this was a very beneficial experience! Once again, thank you so much! Briana Beaton
Thank you so much to the entire faculty and staff at London Elementary for having us in your school and making us feel so welcomed. Thank you to Mrs. Kimbrough and Mrs. Donathon for taking the time out of your busy day and showing us things that we will need to know as future educators. We truly appreciate you answering any of the questions we might have had, and giving us great advice as being new teachers. Thanks again!
Thank you to London Elementary School for allowing our class to participate in the guided reading and writing process in your classrooms. This trip was very special to us because we not only got to interact with the students but we were allowed to receive answers for all of our general questions. Thank you Mrs. Kimbrough and Mrs. Donathon for taking the time to teach us about guided reading, the writing process, and for answering our questions. This was truly a wonderful experience to have and I could not thank you all enough for allowing us to participate in your school! Again, thank you so much!!
Thank Mrs. Kimbrough and Mrs. Donathan for the opportunity for ECED 3283 to go and observe in your classrooms. Thank Mrs. Donathan for giving us the chance to work with students on their writing. I liked how you had questions about writing intervention strategies for us to think about while we were observing in you classroom. Thank you Mrs. Kimbrough for the opportunity to watch a guided reading lesson. This gave me some insight on how to present guided reading and to monitor students reading abilities. Thank you to both teachers for letting us ask any questions we had, concerning teaching and interventions. Your answers gave me great insight into what to expect when I am a teacher. Again, I would like to thank you all for providing an engaging learning experience! Mary Ridgeway
Thank you, Mrs. Kimbrough and Mrs. Donathan for letting us into your classrooms! I loved getting to work with Mrs. Donathan's students and their writing. Mrs. Kimbrough's guiding reading was so much fun to observe! You gave me hope about surviving the first year of teaching. I honestly thought you had been teaching for years! I feel much more comfortable with guided reading and writing intervention. Thank you so much for answering our questions at the end of the visit as well as taking your time to ease our anxieties and impart wisdom to us. Visiting London was one of my favorite classroom visits so far!
Thank you so much Mrs. Kimbrough, Mrs. Donathan, and London Elementary School for letting us come to the school and be a part of your classrooms. I really enjoyed helping the kids with their writing and observing the guided reading. Both of the teachers helped ease my anxieties of being a new teacher and answered our questions.
Thank you so much, London Elementary, for letting our Block 2 group come learn from your great teachers! Mrs. Kimbrough and Mrs. Donathon were so kind and really taught us a lot. I have not had much experience with writing intervention, so it was really cool to get to work with her students and think of different strategies for them. I also loved observing the the guided reading. You both seemed so experienced! Thank you so much for taking time to work with us and answer questions after. Y'all are awesome!
This experience was really awesome and I am so glad that I got the chance to go because it was nice to hear from people who are in the exact same position that we are now and will be in, in just a few years. I learned a lot getting to see these two classrooms and hearing about what it would be like to try to assess students during your first year of teaching. Also, I think it was neat and very valuable to get to see how to do a guided reading session with students. I know that when I am in my own classroom now I will feel more confident with what I am doing. Overall, it was just really great to see someone who came from Tech and that had the same teachers that we do applying what they learned and saying that their schooling has been valuable and really helped them.
I'd like to give my thanks to the amazing staff at London Elementary. I've never been acquainted with its facilities before, but I'm so glad that we got to experience how guided reading and writing works through their school. I appreciate the time that Mrs. Donathan and Mrs. Kimbrough gave to us amid their busy classes. It's means a lot to us that we have a group of alumni that care about our learning experiences at Tech and that they would be so kind enough to share their class with us. With every school we go to, I gain more and more confidence on how my teaching will be, so I hope that Mrs. Donathan and Mrs. Kimbrough know that they played a significant part on my educational future. I was also pleased to know that they were not too long ago where we are at as students, so it felt nice to be connected that way. I wish London Elementary a great rest of the semester with their students!
This was my first time in London Elementary and it was a great experience. It was even better getting to talk to teachers that were in our exact place. Mrs. Donathan and Mrs. Kimbrough not only allowed us to experience guided reading and writing, but offered us great advice. They let us know what it was like being new teachers and what they experienced. It was encouraging to listen to them talk about their schooling and what they wish they had more practice at. I really enjoyed working with their students and watching how their classroom worked.
Thank you London Elementary for welcoming us into your beautiful school! I’ve never had the chance to visit London Elementary and I was highly impressed with my first visit. I also want to give a special thanks to Mrs. Donathan and Mrs. Kimbrough. Mrs. Donathan gave us a great opportunity to watch students write. I can personally say that the student I worked with exceeded all my expectations and was so confident in her writing. It was a wonderful experience! Mrs. Kimbrough showed our class how to instruct a guided reading lesson. I thought this experience was beneficial because I’ve never seen a guided reading lesson take place in any of my observation classrooms. Thank you two so much for making time to let us into your classrooms, answering all of our questions and giving us advice for our future classrooms. We know that you time is precious and I can say that we all appreciate you two. You both do an amazing job!
Thank you Mrs. Donathan, Mrs. Kimbrough, and the London School for allowing our Block II class to visit your school and classrooms. I really enjoyed being able to interact with a student and observe his writing in Mrs. Donathan’s class. Although he made a few grammatical errors as expected, he answered the writing prompt in great detail. Upon entering the classroom we were given a sheet explaining RTI. This allowed me to have a better understanding of this process. In Mrs. Kimbrough's classroom, we were able to observe her instructing a guided reading group. Although we learn about guided reading through our textbooks, it is much more beneficial to see the process in action. Again, thank you so much for allowing us the opportunity to observe in your classrooms, answering our questions, and giving us advice for our first year of teaching!
Thank you so much London Elementary for allowing our class to come participate in your classrooms. This was my first experience in this school and I felt so at home. I was glad to be able to see how two different grade levels worked and get to participate in two different activities. I feel much more confident moving forward in my studies. Thank you!
Thank you London Elementary for letting our Block II Language and Literacy class come into your school. During the experience I learned a lot of fantastic information pertaining to guiding reading groups, writing, and RTI. Upon entering Mrs. Donathon's classroom, we were given a sheet explaining what RTI is. Mrs. Donathon asked us to work with a student on his/her writing and to brainstorm ideas of possible RTI's we could use with that particular student. The student I observed did a great job responding to the topic. She included four sentences explaining her favorite season and included some great details. The student only had a few minor spelling mistakes. In Mrs. Kimbrough's classroom, I was able to observe a guiding reading group. I took notes on the information she provided and wrote down the tips she gave us as well. It was great to see a guided reading group with real students instead of reading an experience from the textbook. It was extremely beneficial to see how the children read and responded to questions Mrs. Kimbrough asked.
Overall, my experience at London Elementary was absolutely wonderful and beneficial. Thank you so much Mrs. Donathon and Mrs. Kimbrough for allowing us into your classroom. Best of luck with the rest of the year!
Thank you so much to the London Elementary staff and faculty for allowing my classmates and me to visit two newer teachers in the school district. Mrs. Donathan allowed us to work one on one with her students doing a writing prompt. She also spoke with us about RTI and gave us some tips to help us. Mrs. Kimbrough demonstrated a guided reading group, something I had never got to sit in on before! Both teachers were so inviting and helpful. At the end of our visit they gave us some tips for our first year of teaching and what to expect! Overall I had an amazing experience and I'm so thankful for the opportunity to get a little more insight into this lifelong career!
A big thank you to London Elementary School for providing my Language & Literacy class and I the experience of observing your curriculum. Mrs.Donathan was very quick to talk about RTI with us, and allow the interaction with her students during their writing prompt. Mrs. Kimbrough allowed us to observe her conduct a guided reading group and running record. This was beneficial because it was the first time I had actually seen this done in a classroom. After interacting with both classes, we all met in the hallway to brief over our experience. They were both so very kind to share how their first year as a new teacher went and gave us a few recommendations on how to make it a little less intimidating. Thank you so much for making an imprint on my road to become an educator.
I would like to thank Mrs. Donathan and Mrs. Kimbrough for welcoming those of us from ATU into your classroom. Mr. Donathan gave us the opportunity to work with her students on their writing prompt while also giving us a handout on RTI. Mrs. Kimbrough let us watch how a guided reading group should be conducted and how to administer a running record. This school visit was very beneficial to me and unlike anything I have been able to do during my observations at Tech. Thank you again for letting us come into your classrooms.
Thank you so much to both teachers at London Elementary for letting us come in and watch your writing and reading programs. We all learned a lot and will be able to use what we learned in a classroom one day. Thank you again for letting us come in and help your students.
Thank you Mrs. Kimbrough and Mrs. Donathan to allowing us the opportunity to come to your classroom and observe Guiding Reading and RTI. The time spent observing these sessions were very beneficial. Thank you Mrs. Donathan for the handout, it has been such a great resource. Also, thank you for all the great tips for our future classrooms. It was awesome to see former tech students out in the real world teaching. You give us hope!
Thank you so much to Mrs. Kimborough and Mrs. Donathan and everyone at London Elementary for allowing us to come into your school. I really enjoyed watching a guided reading group and running record in action. I also enjoyed helping work with the students one on one while writing about their favorite season. Thank you so much Mrs. Donathan and Mrs. Kimborough for allowing us to come and observe in your classroom. Watching the guided reading groups was so beneficial to what we are learning! Over all this was a valuable visit for our program! Thank you London Elementary!
Thank you so much to London Elementary and Mrs. Donathan and Mrs. Kimborough for allowing our class to come in and observe in your classrooms. Thank You for letting us come into your classroom. The reading group was cool to sit in on, because of the reading of the book and the segmenting words. The writing workshop was fun to do because the child I work with loved it and showed me what he was doing and I got to help him edit and finalize his paper. This experience was very informative with the tips and advice given, it will help me in my future classroom. Thank you!
